2 Corinthians 2:14, ESV
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. Ian used to work for a company that chose an employee of the year each year; he won the accolade more than once. For one of the prizes he was given tickets to watch Manchester United play West Ham (his team) in a premier league match at Old Trafford. Great prize. Except... we realised we were sitting in amongst the Manchester United season ticket holders. And we only realised that when West Ham scored a goal and Ian was the only one in the entire stand to leap to his feet and shout “Yes!” Ian celebrated alone. (He also commiserated alone when his team lost 4:1!) It’s not like that when God invites us to watch him do what only he can do. We are not spectators at a match we may lose. We are players in a contest that has already been won. And, this morning I'm saying to God, “Go on. Amaze me! Astound me. Surprise me. I want to be standing in the arena watching you perform miracle after miracle. I want to be one of the people roaring because I see what you’re doing and it’s mind-blowing!” And, I know he’s going to answer my prayer because he tells me he always leads us in triumph in Christ. All of us. Always. Lead in triumph. Let's pray Thank you, Jesus, for inviting me to exercise my faith and watch you do what only you can do. Help me see and point to where you are at work. And help me celebrate your victory today, Lord. Amen.
