Jeremiah 33:3, NIV
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. I particularly love this invitation and promise because when it is said and to whom it is said, reveals something of the nature of God. When God says this to Jeremiah, Jeremiah is God’s spokesman and bringing a challenging message to his nation. Jeremiah knows Israel will not prosper unless it puts God first but that is something the nation does not want to hear. As a result Jeremiah is reviled, ridiculed, persecuted, and ignored. That wounds Jeremiah as he loves his people and wants them to get their priorities straight. And, God meets him in that difficult place. When Jeremiah is most maligned, most frustrated, most hurt, God sets out to bring him comfort and hope. I wonder if some of you need comfort and hope today. If so, find it in this verse. Call on God and ask him to share the things that are on his heart with you. You are one of the things on his heart! And, if you are someone who is suffering because you are speaking God’s truth into difficult situations just now, keep at it. Don’t give up. You are having an effect. Things will change. God is at work though you. There is hope. Let's pray Thank you, Father, for the invitation to call on you whatever state my heart is in and thank you so much for the promise you will answer me. Speak to me today, Lord, and tell me the things on your heart. Fill me with your hope. In Jesus' name. Amen.
