Psalm 121, NIV
I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. If you know me at all you'll know I am pretty capable and self-sufficient, and it makes me very happy to be able to do things myself without needing to ask for help. But there are some things I can't do myself: I can't watch over myself when I'm asleep. My hand isn't big enough to shade me from the sun. I can't watch over my life and my coming and going. But God can. It's in the Father's character - his nature - to help us. And all we need to do is look to him to do it. We can rest today in that truth. Whatever help we need, whatever protection, the Lord gives it to us because he loves us. Let's pray Father, you are my true helper. You will always guide me and never let me stumble or fall. You will never forget about me. You will always have my back. You are helping me now even as I pray and you will continue to do it forever. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
