The Lord your God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live I usually take some time during Lent to interrogate my heart. I carve out a little space to ask questions and receive answers from both myself and the Spirit of God. The questions force me to be brutally honest. Questions such as:
By the time I reach Good Friday the Holy Spirit will have changed my heart in a number of ways. I will have been reminded of everything I did that contributed to Jesus’ death on the cross but also how liberated I am because of his victory over all sin. That means by Easter Sunday I am ready to roar my praise to Jesus. Your questions may not be the same as mine but I'd still recommend spending some time allowing God to change your heart. He does it so gently and well. Let's pray Thank you, Lord, that you are committed to changing my heart not just so I can love you but so I can live. Breathe new life in me today, Holy Spirit, and help me ask the questions I need to ask so I am healed and whole. In Jesus' matchless name. Amen.
