Psalm 145:8, CSB
The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love I’ve had a few tough months. Everywhere I turned there seemed to be a problem or a setback, a disappointment or frustration. And not for the first time I found myself asking questions of God. How can this be happening again? How can you allow this? How am I meant to feel about this? What do I do now? More to the point, what are you doing, Lord? And, guess what? There was no lightning bolt from heaven, no crashing thunder, no “How dare you question me!” resounding in the clouds. Instead I was met with grace and compassion and great, enduring love. I am so grateful that time and time again in the bible, God invites us to wrestle with him, question him, and ask him for help to understand. And because God is not afraid of our emotions or diminished by our anger, he copes with our doubt and is always there for us. Even if we’re ranting at him. God has enough grace for every emotion and all our questions. And, I want to encourage you to get real with God this Lent season - not just for yourself but for the others God has put around you. Let’s go to God for answers for ourselves, and also other people, our wider community, our nation. Let’s be those authentic people of faith who know who we are and how much God loves us, so we have something to pass on to the world. Let's pray Lord you have the word's of eternal life, you are my hope, my strength, my fortress and I trust you. Thank you that I can approach the throne room of grace with boldness knowing you will always welcome me. Help me to take time to sit at your feet today and hear your heart for me and those around me. I love your wisdom. In Jesus' name. Amen.
