“…pay attention to my words and be willing to learn; Open your ears to my sayings. Do not let them escape from your sight; Keep them in the centre of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, And healing and health to all their flesh.” Proverbs 4:20-22, AMP The word of God is life. Apply it and use it and you guarantee something life-bringing will happen as a result. But you have to speak. The bible gives us a process to follow. It’s in Ezekiel 37, when Ezekiel speaks to the dry bones. The passage tells us we must 1) hear the Lord in the situation we’re facing (which is easy when we’ve deposited God’s word in our hearts!). Then 2) speak the word he has given us and 3) speak it with faith. That can be challenging. Your ears are bombarded with information every day and much of it sounds a lot like death. It’s tempting to join in. But you’re the church. You have a God who never stops speaking and Jesus, who isn’t just revealed in God’s word but IS the Word. Not only so, but you have the Holy Spirit who seals the life-giving words of God to your spirit. You are not called to speak death. You are called to be resilient and speak LIFE! Let’s pray The power to change things is there in your word, Lord, and that power can be in my mouth. Train me to speak life to every person and into every situation I face. I want to see lives transformed by the power of your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Want more? Order my new book Developing Kingdom Resilience here!
