“The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.” Psalm 50:1, ESV Our eldest dog, Harvey-Bear has a few favourite spots around the house and garden, but I think the best one for him is just outside our garden’s boundary, at the other end of the vegetable patch. On bright days when I am working there, he will lie on the very edge of our plot with his chin in the mud of the farmer’s field surveying what he thinks is his land. I haven’t the heart to tell him the field belongs to someone else. I don’t think he’d believe me if I did. Who am I to argue? There’s a lesson here for us. When the Lord says the earth is his and everything in it, when he says he summons the sun to rise and set, when he says every beast of the forest is his, the cattle on a thousand hills, and all that moves in the field is his… who are we to argue? We increase our resilience as we expand our awareness of the majesty and glory of God and take courage that he is the mighty one, the Lord, our Father. Let’s pray There is none like you, Father. Thank you for displaying your glory in all you created. Thank you for expressing your love to me in the intricate details of my life. I stand in awe and bless you. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Want more?
