Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
“All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore go...” We have been put in a position of power and authority - a position delegated to us by Jesus. That power is part of our inheritance in Christ. We have authority because we are in Him. So when Jesus says “Go”, we go with authority. And one of my favourite things about all of you is that you understand that our authority doesn’t have to be expressed bombastically or insensitively. We can be kind and loving as we walk in our power and authority. But we do need to expect results. Because we have the authority to talk about the good news of Jesus we should expect to see a response to that good news. Because we have the authority to proclaim freedom for the prisoner and sight for the blind, we should expect to see healing as a result of our prayers. Because we have the authority to set the oppressed free and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour we should expect to see people beginning to walk into their destiny in Christ. Don’t let the devil tell you that you are not enough to make a difference. You are! Because you have been given the power and authority of Jesus. You are a world-changer. These are the last words of Jesus. It's not a great suggestion, it's the great commission. And you have the power to fulfil it.
